We dined at Trios American Bistro on Valentine’s Day, and they had some bumps in the road then. We committed to come back and try them on a better night–because, arguably, V-day is the absolute worst day to judge ANY restaurant–and we were so glad we made our way back. You can see my review of them here, and see how very much I enjoyed dining there. Seriously, they had the absolute best sea bass I have EVER had, and I’ve never tasted such yummy crab cakes in my life. That’s saying something, since we live in an area where crab cakes are abundant, and I’ve had plenty–seriously, the best. Ever. I even finished my dessert, and I am so NOT a sweets/dessert eater. There was nothing I didn’t love at Trios.

Restaurant Review: Trios American Bistro, Kemah, TX (Seabrook)

If I could give TRIOS AMERICAN BISTRO four 1/2 stars, I would, but I can’t quite bring myself to give five stars–yet. Why? Well, because they are new and they have room to improve.

That said, where it counts most–THE FOOD–they are spot on. The food is amazing.

Let’s start with the bad: We were part of what the restaurant now lovingly calls the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre at Trios. Boy, was it! It made for a memorable and wonderful evening as we joked and visited with other patrons and got to know the staff. By the end, we had sympathy for the staff and a funny story to share! I know some of the reviews on Yelp! are not the best–and it’s almost exclusive folks who dined on Valentine’s Day. Read the other reviews, and you’ll see that other than that day, everyone is pretty happy with Trios. They had one bad day–but boy was it a doozy! It shouldn’t, however, taint and haunt the restaurant for life!

So we had to give them a second chance, and I’m so glad we did!

Do you like spicy food, full of flavor? Well, there may be benefits from eating those spicy dishes, other than just great taste, that you may not have known. Garlic, peppers, onions, cayenne and other zesty spices and seasoning items actually have health benefits too. Let’s look at some of these popular spices and seasonings and see exactly what benefits they offer our health. The other great thing about spices is that you can take a basic recipe, basic piece of meat or fish or vegetables, and completely change the flavor, taste and experience of the dish with just a few spices.

Below are some of my favorite basic spices along with their potential health properties:

Sushi and sake, Japanese dining with Texas flare and style–Masa Sushi Sake offers a little something for everyone.

Masa Sushi Sake, a Japanese American fusion restaurant in League City, Texas, located at 1804 FM 646, Suite R, near Dickinson with other locations.

Masa Sushi Sake Parking

Nestled in a shopping center, with easy access and excellent parking, we pulled up on the front side of Masa Sushi Sake, and were met with dark tinted windows, properly obstructing our view of diners, but allowing the folks inside to see out with no problems. I thought the outside looked good, inviting, slightly upscale for the shopping center in which it was located. It was well-lit for nighttime, and safe and secure.421250_10152132105850226_468982049_n
